We want to make it easy and fun for everyone to enjoy glamping here in beautiful East Devon.
The Sheaves family has lived and farmed at Cuckoo Down Farm since 1959. We are John and Becky Sheaves and we have been running a small glamping campsite here now since 2008, with help from our children.
Here, you really can enjoy in peace and quiet. We have three yurts and three luxury safari tents in a six-acre meadow plus, new for 2017, a charming bell tent. Each glamping tent has its own wood burning stove to keep you warm and cosy.
We allow campfires in the evenings and on clear nights we have amazing stars. The farm is set in the East Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is just four miles from the beautiful beaches of the World Heritage Coastline at Beer, Branscombe and Sidmouth.
The glamping tents here all have their own kitchen and standpipe of fresh drinking water. They are cosily furnished with double beds, sofa beds, cushions. Each kitchen has a bottled gas stove (two rings and a grill) and crockery, glassware and cutlery are all provided. The safari tents have their own hot showers in each tent and the yurts and bell tent share a lovely, clean, spacious shower barn..
We allow up to four adults per yurt or six people including children. Safari tents can accommodate up to six adults. We have hot showers, washing machine, fridges and tumble dryer on site. There are also power points for re-charging phones. There’s plenty of parking onsite and we are fully insured.
Our farm has five fields and a three-acre oak wood, with a pretty stream running through it. Look out for swallows, foxes, rabbits, badgers, deer and owls. We’re a working farm with a flock of Suffolk cross sheep, as well as ponies for children to ride and you can collect eggs from our chickens too.
We are very dog-friendly and welcome well-behaved canine visitors. It is also possible to book the whole site for gatherings, such as a special event or hen night. Look out for our special offers and special events.
