Have a fun day as a farmer with us!
For a fun taste of the farming life, we offer day-long smallholding courses. These take place on selected Saturdays through the year and must be booked in advance.
Cost £95 per person
Here is a taster of what to expect from one of our farming day courses:
Chickens – everything you need to know about keeping your own chickens, from how to feed them to egg-collecting, plus hands-on experience with our flock of free-range chickens and (depending on time of year) their baby chicks.
Morning coffee with biscuits
Pigs – what to feed them, how to breed them and (most importantly) how to scratch them behind the ear until they roll over with joy. Hands-on with our five breeding Saddleback sows and (depending on time of year) their piglets.
Sheep – How to keep them, shearing, feet trimming and rounding them up (with help from our sheepdog Lil). Also (depending on time of year) how to look after lambs and bottlefeed orphan lambs.
Afternoon tea with cake
Ponies and goats – All the basics, including grooming, feet care, feeding and handling, with help from our goats Bluebell and Honey and our Dartmoor pony Ebony
Cost £95 per person, including all food, minimum booking two people. We can tailor the day to suit families with children of eight and over or adults only. The farming courses are available on Saturdays only and should be booked before arrival.
